Engine

Progress so far.

yes i did build this in my living room. it was raining out side.
Bike frame, with rear swing ar on, rear springs in , foot pegs on, seats on (just to get them out of the way, and ,y nice newly primed wheel rims in the background there.
Finished building the front forks too, with fender. Looks nice.

it now is starting to look more like a bike. But should probably not put anymore parts on it until i've got it out side.

on to other things
Rusty

Not rusty any more

Rusty

Rusty and muddy.

Nice and shiny, ( bit dented, but ill se if i can straighten that out a bit) the pipe is structurally good, so ill keep it for now, despite the dents. Perhaps later, ill buy new pipes.

not rusty or muddy any more.
Also had some time in the evening, so i sorted out the electrical elements and harvested any useful parts..
Mmm clean components.

And then the engine. Holy crap that was heavy.

Heavy shit

As is

Ignition cover off. No gasket here. Perhaps there should have been one.

Main gears cover off.

Excellent condition.

Hard to see from here, but they are as new.

A bit of treacle 1965 oil residue, but other than that, excellent condition

Timing gears cover with treacle oil residue.

Ignition cover

Ignition cover clean.

Timing gears cover

Timing gears cover clean

Ignition mechanical points.

Ignition mechanical points, cleaned and re-assemble

Gearbox

Gearbox off

Clutch side of gearbox - pretty clean

Gear shifter

Shifter off. There was a load of water that came out, so how do the insides look.

I was pleasantly surprised. That brown/dark goo, is just residue from the sludge that i drained off. Everything looked brand new!

Next, ill remove all those gears, and give them, and the case a good cleaning. New seals and gaskets are on the they way!
