Fenders, seats and paint.

As you may have guessed, this weekend was focused on painting cleaned up bits and finally looking at cleaning up the rear fender. Firstly, to continue a job half started...

Painted Damper Elements

Bottom Damper Elements Assembled...
A delivery of fork oil is expected next week at some point, so i can put the cleaned piston back this nice clean housing and lock the spring in.

Now that was done and out of the way, another job half way though was resolved...
Polishing Rim No.2
Painted Rim No.2

x 40 spokes are required now to assemble wheel no.2.

here some more bits that got painted..

It was time to look at the read fender. It was the first item removed, yet it was just sitting in the workshop corner, getting covered in all the crap that was being sanded\polished off other items. It was time to get this sorted..

As was, with the crap black paint..

Bad Metal Patch Found, This needs some plate welded behind it, and then filled.

Flap, with paint removed.
The whole fender then got a polish to remove all the original white primer residue in the above images. The a lick of primer paint was added to prevent any rusting, while i prepare some other bits that need welding. As i need to take my bits off site for welding, it seems a good idea to get a bunch of stuff and do it all at the same time...Anyway, primer..

Lovelyø. Still needs a fair amount of attention, a bunch of filler to make it super smooth. and a small patch welded on (not in that order obviously). But its painted now, and not covered in crap, so i can store this out of the way somewhere...

The tank could do with some attention. Some strong chemicals for giving the inside a nice acid bath to remove all the rust and crap is on order. For the time being..

Polished Lid

(Wet) Primed Lid.. (needs a small touch of filler here and there to make it super smooth)

Well with all these bits painted and drying, what to do? Well the seat needs re-up holstering, perhaps it could be sensible to do both parts at the same time.

Bottom Seat

Bottom of Bottom Seat. Hmm, looks like my mouse friend could have been in here too.Hope its still not there.

Removed Crap Material Pins

Any mouse in there?

Not here, but there is a lot of crap cushion filling, not inside a cushion..

I thought these seats were supposed to have springs in them?

Theres one. now i know what to look for.

I knew they were in there somewhere.

Crap filling, magically disappeared.
The wooden frame looks pretty crap too, so a new one will be made. A trip to the wood store is in order. And the original cover can be unpicked to get the seat cover pattern for the nice new material.

Now the seat was in progress, a quick survey of the sidecar boat was in order...

Nothing too bad here..

Mostly surface rust, but a bit of rusting through on the right hand sill. This needs to be re-plated and welded.

Surface rust. This will come off in a jiffy.

rust area in the right (and left) hand sill.

Nothing too concerning here, a bit of metal work around the frame guide, but still all good metal it seems.
Overall, not bad. Most of the boat is in quite good condition, mostly surface rust. But the sills will need some metal work attention...
