Xmas Progress..

been a whiile since the last post. Yet i ve been quite busy, mostly dismantling and grinding.

Most of the components are now off the bike, all that really remains together is the engine and the frame.
As the most time consuming job is surface preparation, sanding and painting, i hope to get this done first. (with a odd wheel rebuild along the way..)

anyway,  progress...

a quick overview of whats occurred...
sanded down the spare wheel holder (its now primer grey waiting for the final sand and top coat)
everything will be painted will have a mat / satin black finish

Sanded/Polished Spare wheel holder, ready for primer
Sanded/Polished Passenger seat mount. Ready for metal work..

the same goes for the passenger seat mount, ground down, however on removing the grab handle bolt, the handle didn't move as expected,  a bit of shoddy welding that was done previously to hold on the grab handle.
Amazing weld job..

More Amazing weld job...
so i cut out amazing weld job of the grab handle (which should have been free anyway after bolt remove,  there was a small split under this weld (probably why it was there in the first place), got it re- welded properly, sanded down and painted primer grey.
Amazing weld job removed and with primer coat

at some point over the Xmas/new year break, it was raining (most of the time actually). So in order to stay productive, (as my bike is stored on my front drive under a tarp) i took on the side car removable seats.

a bit of a poor upholstery job here, looks like it was done in a hurry.

removed all the rusty fabric tacks..
and found that my seat once was host to a mouse. How it got in there i h ave no idea...
but thankfully was not there anymore.

nice.  I saved the springs, lock and hinges, then chucked everything else away.
New construction of seat back, awaiting the seat springs...

The spring are now cleaned, and ready to go in. Just waiting for a new cushion filling and cover fabric to be delivered to complete.

The following weekend wasn't raining so the seats went on hold as i am now waiting for some fabric and cushion filler..) and more bits came off the bike...

Electrics, (headlamp assembly, horn, regulator), handle bars, and all the hand-control components removed,
The Entire Electrical System

New batch of freshly removed components

The rear fender is now removed, and sanding/grinding work has begun on the sidecar fender which was removed a while ago.
now this has a first cover of primer, and is going through the long stange of surface preperation, to remove any small bumps, dents and scratches etc.. with a bit of filler. (theres not many, but id like to get all the panels looking super smooth..)

During this surface prep, it seems a good idea to address the internal wiring for the sidecar lighting. The wiring loom for the fender lights (and the rear bike fender) runs through a small raised channel incorporated in the underside of the fender. On my particular fender(s), this channel was never painted, (or replaced, and then not painted) overall, the fender is structurally it is sound, there are just a few minor areas on this wire channeling have deteriorated  (i also want to change the wiring), so i plan to cut out this channel, and create new 'lugs' to attach my new wire loom to from the good bits... This shouldn't affect the structural integrity of the fender as the joining weld points are below this channel which i can confirm from the position of the spot weld 'dents' on the outside of the fender.
